A Focused iOS App for Personal Home Inventory
A native iOS product designed and shipped end-to-end by Durani: what you have, when you got it, where it is. No subscription, no ads, one-time purchase on the App Store.
The Challenge
Tracking personal belongings becomes painful at three moments: after a move, when transferring an item under warranty, and when filing an insurance claim. Existing inventory apps overload the user with categories, fields and hierarchies that are never filled in. The opportunity was a product that captured only what mattered, photograph, date and location, and stayed out of the way the rest of the time.
Existing inventory apps over-engineer the data model and abandon the user before first value
After a move, items get lost because nobody remembers where they were boxed or unboxed
Warranty claims require proof of purchase and condition that almost no one has at hand
Insurance claims need item-by-item evidence that is impossible to reconstruct after the fact
The Solution
Whateren is a deliberately minimal native iOS app organized around three views, What, Where and When. Each item is captured with a photograph, a date and a location. Optional categories, statuses and nested locations are available for power users, but no field beyond the photo is required. iCloud sync, family sharing and CSV/JSON export round out the product. Sold as a one-time USD 2.99 purchase, with no subscription and no advertising.
