A SaaS Platform for Tax and Document Management at Uruguayan Accounting Firms
How we designed, built and continue to evolve Legatus Core, an end-to-end product that centralizes tax obligations, documents, client communication and digital signature for accounting firms, notary offices and tax agencies in Uruguay.
The Challenge
Uruguayan accounting firms manage tax obligations for dozens of clients with hundreds of fiscal entities. Each entity has its own due dates before DGI and BPS, many of them conditioned by the last digit of the RUT. Spreadsheets, shared drives, and WhatsApp groups stop scaling around 30 to 50 clients, and a single missed deadline generates fines for the client and erodes professional trust.
Tax due dates spread across dozens of entities, many conditioned by the last digit of the RUT
Fiscal documents fragmented across email, WhatsApp, Drive and ad-hoc folders
Portal credentials for DGI, BPS and banks circulating in unencrypted spreadsheets
No traceability over whether the client opened, read or signed a shared document
Manual notifications and follow-ups that do not scale beyond a few dozen clients
The Solution
Legatus Core is a complete SaaS platform we designed and built end-to-end: tax calendars with three-tier priority logic, immutable document versioning, full payment workflow for fiscal obligations, a branded client portal with digital signature, encrypted credentials, multichannel notifications, automatic ingestion via WhatsApp and email, and an AI-agent layer for repetitive validation. Sixteen modules cover the entire operational reality of a tax-focused firm, with a separate go-to-market site at legatuscore.com.

Architecture
Modular SaaS architecture organized around fiscal entities. Documents, obligations, conversations, tasks and credentials all attach to the entity they belong to, with strict role-based access on top. External channels (WhatsApp, email) feed the platform through dedicated ingestion endpoints.
